The 2020 Stellar Awards lived up to its title as the greatest night in Gospel music. With its taping normally taking place at the Orleans Arena, in Las Vegas, Nevada, this year’s show, along with its famous red carpet, was filmed and formatted a little differently.
As the world took a drastic changed over the past few months, we, the people, have had to adapt to a different type of lifestyle, “the new norm” - social distancing, while still conducting our lives in today’s society. The Stellar Award’s decided to do things in a safe and fashionable way, by giving various media outlets the opportunity to participate in a red carpet Zoom meeting, to interview with legendary Gospel greats, as well as upcoming artists and more; from the likes of Executive producer, Don Jackson, to Gospel singer’s Travis Green, and Kierra Sheard, to name a few. Everyone in the media outlet distributions were able to share the great experience of speaking to everyone, via Zoom, including conducting a candid one on one interview with the host, renowned Gospel singer, Kirk Franklin, and new comer co-hosts, Gospel singers, Jonathan McReynolds, and Koryn Hawthorne.
Some of the nominees were as follows:
Donald Lawrence Presents the Tri-City Singers with 9 nominations
Kirk Franklin with 8 nominations
Tasha Cobbs Leonard with 8 nominations
JJ Hairston with 7 nominations
Bishop Paul S. Morton with 6 nominations
The list goes on.
GrinderZZ asked Jonathan McReynolds, and Koryn Hawthorne how they felt about being chosen to co-host the Stellar Award’s with the Legendary Kirk Franklin, they replied how honored they were to be chosen and what a great experience it is for them both. During the Zoom conference meeting, we found that Kirk Franklin and Travis Green are quite the comedians, as they kept us entertained. Although conducted from the comforts of home, this year’s Zoom press interviews were really amazing.
