We love to show the many talents of people, in the GrinderZZ magazine. Eight year old Demetria Alexis Crandell is among some of that talent. She was born in Newport News, Virginia, but moved with her family to Las Vegas, Nevada. We talked to the first time author about her new book, coming soon, called The Adventures of Super Dee. It's about a little boy name Daryl. He has autism, and he's afraid to go to school, because he switched schools, and he doesn't know anyone there. Super Dee is a toy doll that gives him the courage and the push to break out of his shy shell and conquer school. Demetria was inspired to write this book because she was diagnosed with autism.
Besides being an author, Demetria likes to cook, sing, dance and draw pictures. She is the daughter of Author Angie Christine, who is also the CEO of GrinderZZ. Demetria also has a big sister, Briana. The family recently moved from Las Vegas, Nevada to Georgia. Demetria says she misses Las Vegas, but she has a buddy in Georgia named Braylin and she has made new friends at school, along with new teachers, that she really likes.
When we asked Demetria what her advice to someone who wants to write a book, she said, "Nike said.....JUST DO IT, and I say to just do it as well. Don't be scared. Just buy a notebook and have some pens and pencils around so you can write your stories."
Her last words and shout outs: First, I want to say I love you God. "I, also, want to say, I love you and wish I could see my grandma, my grandpa, and my uncle Johnny in Heaven," she said. Also, a special shout out to her mother, Angela Crandell ("because you love and take care of me"). She, also, sends shout outs to her big sister, Briana, her big brother, Demetrius Jr., her dad, Demetrius Sr., her grandparents in Virginia, her aunts Danielle, Samantha, Shenoba, Lassie, her step sisters, Lindsey and Niecey, her best friend, Braylin, and step dad, Daryl Brown, her teachers back in Vegas, and her new teacher, Mrs. Franklin in Augusta Georgia, her cousins Johana, Cheryl, Tisha and Tashina, Lindrell, Tysa, Alisha, Johnette, Kane Brown, Blessing, and RJ, and last but not least, HER ILLUSTRATOR, AUTHOR RUSTY TRIMBLE, and to all of her friends and family that she may have missed. "I love you all! Thank you!"
